After Christmas….

Sorry gals…and guys, I couldn’t come on to wish you happy christmas. I got busy with packing and posting and haven’t had as much time to post on here. But I have been thinking about you! And for NiEriu clients…I’ve been wondering how the recipients of your gift packs recieved them. Here’s wishing them and  you all  of course healthier and glowing skin for 2008!

Soooo…what did Santa bring you? Or quite simply…what did you get??

We emptied the green bin on the 24th and It’s half full already!! You know what really drives me up the wall? It’s those tiny wire thingies used to tie toys to the cardboard so they don’t move….seriously, it’s not as though the toys can run away!!

Anyway, NiEriu has been working behind the scenes during the holidays… oh and if you like the products you’ve used, please share your thoughts using the review function now available in NiEriushop. we are trying to put up all your comments so far.In the same vein if you prefer not to be quoted, simply send us a mail and we’ll take off your comments.

We will be stocking a few soaps in some healthfood shops at some point in the new year so if you’d like to see NiEriu in a store near you, let us know. Yep, only the soaps will be stocked…sorry, we cannot have your special potions sitting on a shelf now can we? remember…fresh made?! And yes, your favourite soap will still be available to order here, but be warned, you might see some in some shops only available there-by custom request.

Well, I ‘m off to grab a bite for dinner…something with leftover turkey….just as well it’s almost finished!

Oily Skin Care….Care of Oily Skin….

Following a few emails enquiring about care of oily, acne prone skin, here is a brief outline of what I think you should be doing based on my own research and limited experience. As always, nothing here is intended to replace or constitute medical advice. If you try anything here, let us know how it works for you.All skin needs tender loving care.Oily skin like dry skin, normal skin for the most part cannot be changed. You have to learn how to best deal with it and live with it. You don’t need harsh cleansers that strip your skin of all it’s oils, all this does is stimulate the skin to produce more oil. No skin type- oily, dry, normal needs strong, harsh cleaners. Your skin is not the toilet floor that needs to be scrubbed, washed and disinfected within every inch! Treat your skin like a delicate flower. In dealing with oily skin, people are often told to avoid oils, but it is important to note that there are also non-oil comedogenic ingredients, and not all oils are comedogenic. The oil cleansing method outlined earlier can be used but you might need to adjust the oils to suit you. Our old mantra works here too-keep it simple! After cleansing and using a toner such as witch hazel or diluted apple cider vinegar,  or rose water. You can use one of our natural facial oil serums from nieriu . If you would like something else, or are not sure, contact us and we will see what might work for you. When using the Oil cleansing method, you might notice a few more spots for a few days as your skin “detoxes” but this should soon clear. If it perseveres, don’t give up, instead change or adjust the oils.Once in a while-like once or twice a week, use an exfoliant. It is sooo easy to make a good one from stuff in your kitchen. Baking soda+ oil works well as does ground almonds+ oil or ground oats/baby oats+ oil. The oil being the one you use for the oil cleansing method or any oil of your choice-olive, jojoba, etc. You can also add a few drops of a suitable essential oil….lavender, teatree, neroli…etc. If you really really just want to stay away from any oils or combine with a more water based moisturizer, you should consider getting some aloe vera plants . No shop bought aloe vera is as good as the fresh aloe vera, and no other plant is easier to grow! Just put it on your window sill and water once in a while! Couldn’t be easier! Use the gel from inside the leaf on skin either underneath your serum or on it’s own. Aloe vera is also great used for rosacea….but that’s another post….in fact 2 other posts….
