Ériu -daughter of Ernmas of the Tuatha Dé Danann, was the patron goddess of Ireland. Her husband was Mac Gréine (‘Son of the Sun’) and  she was the mother of Bres by Prince Elatha of the Fomorians. The English name for Ireland comes from the name Ériu and the Old Norse or Anglo-Saxon word land. (WIKIPEDIA)

NiÉriu is a family run business based in Ireland.

Difficulties in finding suitable products that helped me deal with my skin problems and my children's skin led me to start to formulate my own products.
I have been making and using my own skincare products since 2004. My skin rebelled against the environmental conditions in the Irish winter, and I have had eczema for most of my life. Developing psoriasis after the birth of my son, made me start to question my lifestyle and investigate what I was putting in and on my body. I then decided to go back to my roots.I wanted products that were kind to my skin,unlikely to trigger allergic reactions and would leave my skin looking it's best. Growing up, my maternal grandmother who was a local farmer who made and sold African Black soap back in Nigeria. Ingredients like shea butter, palm kernel oil and coconut oil were part of the family’s skincare routine. Infact, after the birth of my first child, one of the things sent for the recuperation was a jar of unrefined shea butter.
By August of 2007,I decided to put the products on the market. It seemed like events were conspiring to make it happen and I just decided to go with the flow,and the work to bring the products to you began.
We are also working on forming links with local communities in more countries. At present, the sheabutter and cocoabutter are sourced directly from local suppliers in Nigeria- these are women community groups. This ensures a fair deal for the women and also ensures their livelihood. Sourcing from these communities enables us give back. In a society where there is so much reliance on the oil(petroleum) industry, it is important to remind people that there are alternatives, and hopefully opening up this avenue will show just that. As NiÉriu grows, the level of support available to the communities will also grow.

NiÉriu handmade products are as good for the environment as they are for your skin. Our ingredients are obtained from renewable sources and are biodegradable and all our packaging is 100% recyclable so please dispose of it responsibly.
